Our Optometrist / Eye Doctor

Jeff Mellor, OD, MEd is one of the most highly trained optometrists in the state of Utah. His education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Utah, a Doctor of Optometry and Master of Education in Visual Function and Learning from Pacific University in Oregon. Unlike most optometrists, after graduation he did a one year residency at the Salt Lake VA Medical Center & Moran Eye Center to improve his skills with eye disease management and specialty contact lens fittings. His work history includes many years in general eye care, doing pediatric eye exams, fitting specialty contact lenses, treating eye disease and managing refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK). His specialty is in difficult to fit contact lenses. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and board certified with the American Board of Optometry.

Our History

Wasatch View Eye Care was opened in 2011 by Dr. Jeff Mellor and Richard Colby Ashby. Its first office was located at 1218 W. South Jordan Parkway, Suite A. The office had a small footprint, but met Wasatch View's needs at the time. Eventually the business outgrew this location.

After a two-year period of land acquisition, the permitting, financing, and construction process we completed our first permanent location in South Jordan at 10412 S. 2200 W in 2017.

Our latest expansion of Wasatch View Eye Care has come by opening an office located in the rapidly expanding, enticing tech community of Lehi at the start of 2022.

Our Services

At Wasatch View Eye Care we provide comprehensive adult and pediatric eye exams, traditional and specialized contact lens fittings, the best in LASIK surgery, quality optical dispensing, as well as treating ocular injuries and providing knowledgeable management of eye diseases.

Our Products

We offer a variety of eyeglass frame options from favorite high-end brands to affordable options, all within the range of many styles to fit any patient. A unique ability of Wasatch View is that we carry single vision lenses in stock as well as an edger. This allows us to make glasses the same day! Unlike many optical chains we are not limited on the lens options we can provide. Keeping patient versatility in mind, options include anti-fatigue lenses, gradient computer glasses, digital single vision and progressive lenses.

We take pride in offering brands we can stand behind and contact lenses with the latest technology. The contacts we choose to supply can include blue-blocking, photochromic (light transitioning) options, optimized multifocals, and new contact lines designed to control the progression of myopia.

For those with irregular corneas we have specialized gas permeable lenses. For moderate to severe irregular corneas there are scleral and hybrid contacts. Whatever your needs as a patient are, we go the distance so you can see the distance!

South Jordan

Our South Jordan location has one exam lane and testing room. Our optical frame boards have over 600 frames to choose from. In our basement, we have a fully stocked optical lab with an edger and stock lenses that allow us to cut our own glasses!

Our office is located right next to Bingham High School and along South Jordan Parkway in the heart of a residential area. We have loved every second in South Jordan and serving the local communities.

Lehi

Our brand new Lehi location consists of three exam lanes. We now have space for separate rooms that now serve as contact lens trial storage and contact lens placement training for contact lens newbies. It has a large optical dispensary with room for over 900 eyeglass frames.

We are located in a beautiful new complex! You can find us at Building B of the Willow Park Center Complex in Unit B101 at 2135 W Main Street in Lehi, UT. The main entrance to the building is on the south side. You'll see our Wasatch View logo on the first door to your left.

Warranty and Returns

CONTACT LENSES:

Unopened boxes of contacts in new condition and returned within 30 days will receive a refund or exchange credit. Items that are opened, custom made, special order, damaged or do not have a receipt may be denied a refund or exchange.

FRAMES:

Frames may be returned in like new condition within 30 days of purchase for exchange credit or a refund minus 20% restocking fee. All frames are warrantied against manufacturer defects for 12 months from date of purchase. Frame warranty subject to $15 exchange fee.

OPHTHALMIC LENSES:

Lenses may be returned in like new condition within 30 days of purchase for exchange credit, Rx change, or a refund minus 20% lab fee. Lenses and coatings are warrantied against manufacturer defects for 12 months from date of purchase. Some AR coatings carry a 24mo. warranty.

Insurance

We accept most major insurances and vision plans. Including VSP, EyeMed, Davis Vision, Spectera and BCBS

INSURANCE & INSURANCE LABS:

Items that were purchased from or billed to an insurance company or insurance lab are not eligible for returns.

Follow-Up and Rx Check

There is NO charge for glasses or contact lens prescription re-checks within 60 days of the original exam. After 60 days, a new exam will be required.
